As I turn 40 this Saturday, I want to thank all of you who made a donation to my Foundation in honor of my birthday; we look forward to matching your generosity to help kids get active! It seems these days I need more stamina than ever with the hectic pace of being Ava’s mom and our work in building the ANNIKA brand. I’m thankful for the gift of Mike, my family, my team and friends like you, who keep me energized and passionate about what we do. After shooting a commercial at the Academy last week and celebrating with some friends this Saturday, I head to the ANNIKA Experience at Fiddler’s Elbow in New Jersey on the 11th. The next morning I’ll make a brief appearance on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts, attend a board meeting, and then present the ANNIKA Inspiration Award (see below). On Wednesday I’ll film the Closing Bell with CNBC, then travel to
North Carolina for soccer with Mia Hamm’s Foundation event. I swing by Jupiter, Fla. for the Academy Package at the Ritz on the 15th, and we’re off to Asia on the 16th for two weeks. The Asian Golf Summit in Bangkok, Thailand begins Oct. 18 and I’ll be in China for the Mission Hills Star Trophy Tournament Oct. 27-31. I am so excited to present the first-ever ANNIKA Inspiration Award; I can’t reveal who this exceptional young woman is quite yet, but the recipient will be announced Oct. 12 at the Women’s Sports Foundation annual gala in New York, and you’ll want to know her story. As a mom on the go, I look for every opportunity to spend more time with “little a” and the ability to take her on as many of our trips as possible. Our good friends got us this Chicco stroller/car seat combo, the Cortina KeyFit Travel System, and it’s been fantastic! Ava’s outgrown it now, but it allowed me – and just as often Mike – to take her from the grocery store to the office and corporate outings and beyond. The stroller is sturdy and super-convenient while dragging things through an airport.
